UAAP Season 81: Ateneo, Adamson complete Final Four cast

Ateneo de Manila University advanced to its sixth straight postseason appearance.
Ateneo de Manila University and Adamson University completed the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament Final Four cast after beating their respective foes Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Blue Eagles advanced to their sixth straight postseason appearance as they showed University of Sto. Tomas the exit door, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19, to join Adamson, Far Eastern University and defending champion National University in the next round.
Chumason Njigha showed the way for Ateneo, which entered its fifth Final Four stint excluding Season 79 when the Katipunan-based swept its way to the throne, with 15 points while Tony Koyfman delivered 13 markers, all coming off attacks.
Ron Medalla got nine points while John Rivera added eight points, 16 excellent receptions and six digs for the Blue Eagles, who 8-4 win-loss record.
Manuel Medina and Joshua Umandal had 11 points each for the Tigers, who missed the Final Four after dropping to 4-8 slate.
Meanwhile, the Falcons tied Ateneo at third to fourth with 8-4 slate after crushing University of the East, 27-25, 25-17, 25-15.
George Labang got 17 points while graduating skipper Paolo Pablico scored 12 markers as Adamson returned to the Final Four after missing the cut last year.
The Red Warriors absorbed their fifth straight defeat for a 2-10 card.
Noel Alba and Lloyd Josafat finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively, for UE.
