UAAP Season 81: FEU out to enhance semis hopes
Far Eastern University is looking to boost its bid for a semis berth.

Far Eastern University heads into the crucial stretch of its bid to book a Final Four seat in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday against spoiler National University.

With just three games left in their elimination round assignments, every match is a must-win for the Lady Tamaraws.

FEU will get to test the young but feisty Lady Bulldogs once again at 2:00 p.m. at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan. The game will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.

The Lady Tams hold a 7-4 card tied with the University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses just a win behind no. 2 team three-time defending champion De La Salle University Lady Spikers (8-3). Ateneo de Manila University (10-1) booked the first semis berth.

FEU is coming off a four-set win over the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons last Saturday and are looking to duplicate its 22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-12, win over the Lady Bulldogs.

“Lahat ng kalaban unpredictable, character na lang ang labanan. Kung ganito ang ipapakita nila against sa NU yung chance (na manalo) malaki,” said FEU coach George Pascua, who is hoping that his wards will play with the same intensity as they showed in their previous victory.

A win by the Lady Tams coupled by a victory by the Tigresses over the Lady Maroons in the 4:00 p.m. match will give FEU, DLSU and UST at least a Final Four seat playoff.

But the Lady Tams must get past NU first.

The Lady Bulldogs kissed their semis hopes goodbye last Sunday when they bowed down to the Lady Eagles in four sets to slide down to 3-8 slate.

NU is determined to play the spoiler’s role in its last three games of the season.
