Sa opinyon ko, ‘pag nandun ang complacency namin anytime pwedeng mawala sa amin 'yun eh -- Sisi Rondina
University of Sto. Tomas inched closer to a Final Four return, but graduating hitter Sisi Rondina wants the Tigresses to guard against complacency heading into their last two games in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament.
The Tigresses moved a win away from clinching a semifinals spot after crushing University of the Philippines, 25-21, 25-12, 26-24, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
“Sa opinyon ko, ‘pag nandun ang complacency namin anytime pwedeng mawala sa amin yun eh,” said Rondina, who scored 20 points with 17 coming off attacks.
The Espana-based squad holds an 8-4 win-loss record tied with Far Eastern University at third to fourth spot behind three-time defending champion De La Salle University (8-3) and semis-bound Ateneo de Manila University (10-1). UST secured at least a playoff for a semifinals berth.
The Tigresses missed the Final Four last year.
“Lagi lang talaga kaming kumakapit sa word na ‘kaya namin’,” said Rondina, who also had 15 digs and eight excellent receptions. “Pero di namin makukuha ‘yun kung ‘di namin trinabaho.”
Rookie Eya Laure also vows to go all-out in the Tigresses’ last two games against FEU on Sunday and also-ran National University on April 27.
“Ayokong bigyan si Ate Sisi na, ‘Ah hanggang elims na lang ‘to’. ‘Yun talaga kasi entering this UAAP season yun ang sinabi ko sa kanya,” said Laure, who got 11 points and seven excellent receptions.
“Gusto ko kung ano ang deserve niya maibigay namin. Hindi yung ako lang, pero naming lahat,” she added.
