FEU scores thrice to take down Adamson, 3-1 in the second round of the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football tournament.
Three different players scored for Far Eastern University, as the Tamaraws took down Adamson University, 3-1, in the second round of the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football Tournament, Thursday afternoon at the FEU DIliman Football Field in Quezon City.
Nicky Canonigo got the Tamaraws off to a good start in the first half with a late conversion off an assist from Poi Saldivar in the 43rd minute.
Saldivar himself found the back of the net to begin the second half, speeding past the Adamson defenses and firing one past keeper CJ Viray for the 2-0 lead in the 47th minute.
The Soaring Falcons managed to avoid a shutout thanks to Allen Lozano, whose corner kick sailed right into the top right corner in the 57th minute of action.
Alex Rayos provided the finishing touch in the 73rd minute, as the impact substitute found gold on his first touch, scoring off a Gio Pabualan corner kick.
With the win, FEU slides into second place with 21 points off six wins, three draws, and two losses. More importantly, they bounce back from back-to-back losses at the start of the second round with two straight wins.
"The Ateneo game, we lost but I don't think our abilities were low," shared FEU head coach Bobae Park. "The problem was mental. After the start of the second round, the first game against Ateneo, the second game against UST, our players a little bit lose their minds."
"But it's good that it happened at the start of the second round, so we have time to fix. When we played against NU, we were able to overcome the mental," Park added.
Adamson, who also bids their playoff hopes goodbye, falls to one win, five draws, and six losses for eight points.
