UAAP Season 81: Women’s Final Four seeding scenarios
Here’s a look at the possible UAAP Season 81 women's volleyball semis seeding scenarios.

The semifinals cast of the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball has been set but the pairings for the Final Four are yet to be determined.

With just three playdates left in the elimination round, teams in the Final Four still have control of their final seeding depending on the outcome of their respective assignments.

Here’s a look at the possible semis seeding scenarios:

ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY

The league-leading Lady Eagles, who hold a 10-2 win-loss slate, only need to win one of their remaining two games against skidding Adamson University on Wednesday and University of the East on April 28 to secure a Final Four twice-to-beat advantage.

A sweep of its elimination round closing swing will give Ateneo the no. 1 seeding in the Final Four against Far Eastern University, who the Lady Eagles defeated in their first two meetings.

Things will go sour if Ateneo drops all of its remaining games.

In case of a three-way tie at 10-4 with De La Salle University and University of Sto. Tomas, the team with the highest quotient will take the top spot and the first twice-to-beat advantage while the other two squads will battle in a playoff for the last Final Four bonus. There will also be a playoff for the last semis twice-to-beat incentive for the Lady Eagles in case of a two-way tie at 10-4 with either the Lady Spikers or the Tigresses.

If Ateneo and DLSU end up with identical 11-3 records, both teams will secure the semis bonus but the Lady Spikers will take the no. 1 spot by virtue of winner over the other.

DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY

The Lady Spikers face a challenging final stretch in the elimination round to secure a good spot in the Final Four.

DLSU needs to win its last two outings against also-ran University of the East on Wednesday and Far Eastern University on April 28 to secure a twice-to-beat advantage outright and avoid the complications of a possible playoff.

The Taft-based squad can clinch the no. 1 seed if it sweeps its last two matches and Ateneo drops all of its remaining two games.

If the Lady Spikers go 1-1 in their last two games coupled by a victory of University of Sto. Tomas in its final outing for a tie at 10-4, there will be a playoff to determine which team will secure the semis incentive.

DLSU can slide to no. 3 if it loses all of its games and the Tigresses win their last game.

UNIVERSITY OF STO. TOMAS

The Tigresses have a chance to vie for a twice-to-beat advantage and even for the top seed if fate would have it.

UST can force a playoff for a Final Four advantage if it wins against National University on April 27 and either DLSU or Ateneo or both teams end up with 10-4 slates.

In a three-way tie at 10-4, the team with the highest quotient will take the top spot and the first twice-to-beat advantage while the other two squads will battle in a playoff for the last Final Four bonus. There will also be a playoff for the last semis twice-to-beat incentive in case of a two-way tie.

The Espana-based squad can take the twice-to-beat advantage outright if it wins against NU and DLSU comes out short in its last two matches.

FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY

The Lady Tamaraws are already locked at the no. 4 spot after dropping their previous game in straight sets against the Tigresses.

With an 8-5 record, FEU will remain at fourth spot even if it wins against the Lady Spikers in a rematch of last year’s Finals on April 28.

In case the Lady Tams defeat DLSU and UST loses to NU for a 9-5 tie, FEU will still slide to no. 4 via tiebreak. FEU’s max points earned is 24 if it wins against DLSU in straight or four sets while UST is currently holding 27 points.

The Lady Tams’ mission in their last elims game is to gain momentum and confidence heading into the Final Four against the twice-to-beat top seed.
