Far Eastern University bagged the last Final Four twice-to-beat advantage after beating De La Salle University.
Far Eastern University clinched the last Final Four twice-to-beat advantage after sweeping De La Salle University, 25-21, 25-19, 25-20, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Redijohn Paler led the way for the Tamaraws, who improved to 11-2 win-loss record at second spot, with 12 points including 11 coming off attacks. Paler added six digs for FEU, which could take the top seed with a repeat win over league-leading defending champion National University in their end of elimination round clash on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs continued their winning rampage as they stretched their streak to 12 straight after clobbering University of the Philippines, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22, in the first game.
NU jacked its record to 12-1 as it built momentum heading to its last elims assignment against first round tormentor FEU.
Bryan Bagunas played his usual game to score 17 points with 15 off kills and added 11 excellent receptions for the Bulldogs. James Natividad got 10 markers while Madzlan Gampong got seven points in just two sets of action for NU.
The Green Spikers slid to 4-9 slate tied with University of Sto. Tomas.
Cris Dumago and Billie Anima posted 11 and 10 points, respectively, for DLSU.
UP dropped to 1-12 slate. Nicolo Consuelo finished with nine points while John Mark Millete scored eight for the Fighting Maroons.
