Des Cheng will, no doubt, be better the next time La Salle takes the court
There's a reason why Des Cheng was limited to just one complete set in De La Salle University's five-frame loss to Far Eastern University, Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
The reason? Head coach Ramil De Jesus didn't want any complications as she recovers from getting scratched by a stray cat in their Manila dorm.
"Nung weekend kasi, nakalmot ng pusa tapos nagpa-vaccine. 'Di pinag-ensayo nang ilang araw so kanina, medyo mababa (ang laro)," the multi-titled mentor shared.
Indeed, the Lady Spikers' captain was clamped down to just two points by the Lady Tamaraws.
Come Wednesday in their playoff for the second-seed up against University of Sto. Tomas, however, there is no doubt she will only be better. "For sure, gagaan na ulit yan," a source close to her said.
That is even truer now her off-game due to unforeseen circumstances will only be a challenge for Cheng to overcome. "Sabi ko sa kanya, next time, kung nag-start nang ganun kataas yung kalaban, dapat ganun din kataas lalaruin niyo o mas mataas pa," Coach RDJ said.
