La Salle had nothing to say after dropping its playoff match for the second-seed opposite UST
De La Salle University fell victim to a determined University of Sto. Tomas side, Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Blitzed in the first set and only able to come alive in the third frame, the Lady Spikers succumbed to the Golden Tigresses in their playoff match for the second-seed in the UAAP 81 Women's Volleyball Tournament.
And not only were the defending champions defeated, they were actually dominated by the rejuvenated powerhouse from Espana.
While Sisi Rondina detonated for 29 points and Eya Laure dropped 17 markers of her own, La Salle counted only Jolina Dela Cruz as its player in double-digit scoring with 12.
And while they played their opponents to a virtual standstill in terms of blocks, serves, and errors, they were blown out of the water in terms of spikes.
UST hammered down on the Lady Spikers for a 52-33 disparity in terms of attack points.
Perhaps, that is why right after their four-set loss, the Taft-based team remained in uniform as they filed out of the venue.
Asked for interviews, players from team captain Des Cheng to super rookie Dela Cruz declined.
Head coach Ramil De Jesus, meanwhile, also left the venue right after the loss.
Whatever it is, La Salle will have no time to waste as it gears up for its Final Four showdown, still opposite the Golden Tigresses, on Sunday.
