Ateneo eyes Finals return, FEU wants to extend
Far Eastern University and twice-to-beat Ateneo de Manila University collide in an explosive UAAP Season 81 women's volleyball Final Four match.

Ateneo de Manila University wants to exact revenge on the squad that brought heartache to the Lady Eagles last year when the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball Final Four begins Saturday at the MOA Arena.

The Lady Eagles will be carrying a twice-to-beat advantage over Far Eastern University in the semis showdown slated to start at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.

Ateneo finished the eliminations on top with a 12-2 win-loss record and will hold a psychological advantage over the Lady Tams, who it beat twice in their first two meetings in the season.

The Lady Eagles missed the Finals last year after the then twice-to-beat FEU eliminated them in the semifinals that ended Ateneo’s six straight championship appearance.

Graduating middles Maddie Madayag and Bea De Leon will spearhead the Lady Eagles together with top spiker Kat Tolentino, Ponggay Gaston and setter Deanna Wong.

But the Lady Tams are looking to write a different story to keep their campaign alive.

FEU will try to use the momentum of its morale-boosting five-set win over three-time defending champion De La Salle University at the end of the elims to force a winner-take-all on Wednesday.

Graduating Heather Guino-o, Jerrili Malabanan and setter Kyle Negrito will lead the charge of the Lady Tams.
