Deserved naman talaga niya – UST legend Bernal on Rondina

University of Sto. Tomas legend Venus Bernal praised and admired Tigresses’ senior Sisi Rondina for her sensational performance in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament.

Not only did Rondina lead UST back into the Finals for the first time after eight years, but the open spiker also brought back to Espana the Most Valuable Player award, which Bernal won back in Season 69.

“Actually yung sa maglalaro pa lang yung UST sa Finals napakaganda na nun for the school, tapos makukuha pa (MVP) siya ni Sisi,” said Bernal on Saturday before the Tigresses best-of-three Finals series opener against the Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles at the Big Dome.

A part of the Season 69 champion team, Bernal is confident that UST will end an nine-year wait to return to the throne.

“Deserved naman talaga niya pero bukod doon kay Sisi siyempre with the help of the team parang feeling ko talaga para sa UST itong taon na to,” she said.

Bernal, who last played in the Philippine Superliga back in 2016 for Cignal, said that she knows that just like her, Rondina, will not be distracted with individual accolades but will remain focused on the bigger picture.

Bernal is currently working as an employee of Manila Water and participates in inter-company volleyball tourneys.
