Sabi ko sa kanila, di tayo susuko. Di pa natin nakukuha ‘yung pangarap natin -- Sisi Rondina
Sisi Rondina and University of Sto. Tomas is treating their Game 2 loss as just another challenge in their quest for the elusive crown.
The Season Most Valuable Player remains positive of their chances to quench a nine-year title drought in Game 3 of the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball Finals.
The Tigresses suffered a 24-26, 25-14, 21-25, 15-25, loss to Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday that tied the series at one game apiece.
”Sabi ko sa kanila, di tayo susuko. Di pa natin nakukuha ‘yung pangarap natin,” said Rondina, who poured 22 points with 16 digs and eight excellent receptions.
Game 3 is on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“Di tayo talo, kasi nanalo tayo nu’ng Game 1, so Game 3 last na. Ibuhos na nating lahat,” added the Cebuana star, who is looking to exit with a crown in indoor volleyball after collecting four titles and MVPs in beach volleyball.
The Tigresses, which swept the top seed Lady Eagles in the series opener, began crumbling down in the third set after prized rookie Eya Laure hurt her left ankle at the start of the frame. Though Laure returned late in the frame, she played with a diminished explosiveness.
Ateneo, for its part, played fluidly in the third frame and after clinching the set, the Lady Eagles effectively shut down UST’s offense while terrorizing the Tigresses defense in the fourth.
“Ako sa sarili ko opinyon ko talaga lumaban kami. Although we had lots of lapses pero thankful ako kasi andun yung “Ate, bawi tayo” mga ganung maliliit na bagay, pero ang laki ng impact sa sarili na marinig mo yun sa mga bata,” Rondina said.
The senior stressed that Game 3 will be a test of character for the Tigresses.
“Sabi nga ni coach (Kungfu Reyes) kanina, eto ‘yung taste, experience ‘pag natatalo. But may motivation, may Game 3 pa. ‘Yung mga positive words ni coach andun lagi. Babawi kami,” Rondina said.
