Penny Estacio is ready and raring to help FEU-Diliman move forward in its post-RJ Abarrientos era
Far Eastern University-Diliman's new era just got a shot in the arm with the entry of long-limbed point guard Penny Estacio.
Estacio had played last season for San Beda High School where he posted per game counts of 11.1 points, a team-high, to go along with 2.5 assists, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals.
However, he decided to transfer from Taytay to Diliman as he believed the latter is the best place he could showcase his skills.
"I had to transfer so that I can maximize my playing years to be able to prepare myself for the future and the bigger leagues," Estacio said.
In Estacio, the Baby Tamaraws get a ready-made replacement for former top gun RJ Abarrientos as well as versatile guard Royce Alforque who are now with the school's Seniors squad.
The 5-foot-11 playmaker will team up with Jorick Bautista for the green and gold's new talented, albeit young, backcourt.
That golden opportunity was what led Estacio to choose FEU-Diliman among other choices. "There were a lot of offers, but FEU made a very promising commitment. For that, I will play harder po," he said.
Even though he has transferred, however, Estacio made it clear that he only has gratitude for San Beda. As he put it, "It was not an easy decision because San Beda was a great part of my playing career. I will be forever thankful sa coaches and teammates ko."
The now 17-year-old will have two seasons of eligibility for the Baby Tamaraws. He will be good to go for them come Season 82.
