UAAP Season 82: Motivation ni EJ para bumalik -- Reyes
Malaking tulong ‘yun kasi siyempre para mas maging motivation ni EJ lalo para bumalik -- UST coach Kungfu Reyes referring to sisters EJ and Eya Laure playing together for Foton

University of Sto. Tomas head coach Kungfu Reyes welcomes the team up of sisters EJ and Eya Laure for Foton in the Philippine Superliga as a chance to build up their chemistry heading into the UAAP Season 82 next year.

EJ, who is returning to volleyball action after a two-year hiatus since sustaining a shoulder injury, will play alongside her sister Eya in 2019 PSL All Filipino Conference set to begin on June 15

Reyes sees it as an opportunity for the UAAP Season 77 Rookie of the Year to get back in fighting form in time for her return to the Tigresses after a two-year hiatus following a shoulder injury she suffered in 2017 while playing for the Tornadoes.

“Malaking tulong ‘yun kasi siyempre para mas maging motivation ni EJ lalo para bumalik,” said Reyes referring to EJ Laure playing alongside her sisters Eya, who was named UAAP Season 81 Rookie of the Year.

The sisters last played together back in 2016 in the defunct Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference with Eya fielded as a guest player.

Eya hinted about the return of EJ to UST next year after the Tigresses bowed down to Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP Finals in three games

Reyes is confident EJ will be ready for her return in Season 82.

“Babalik naman ‘yun. Inuunti-unti kasi binubuo ulit ang volleyball muscle kasi wala pa,” said Reyes.

Eya, according to Reyes, is expected to play for the Tornadoes sparingly though as she is still recovering from a sprained left ankle she suffered in Game 2 of the Finals series.

“’Di siya maglalaro totally hangga’t di maayos ang paa,” he said.

The Laure sisters will join another popular pair of volleyball siblings in towering sisters Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Jaja Santiago.
