For the third game in a row in the 2019 Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Cup, a different player busted out for the University of the Philippines.
Javi Gomez de Liano was online from start to finish as the Fighting Maroons had no problems whatsoever against National Kaohsiung Normal University in a 97-67 romp, Thursday in Taiwan.
Javi GDL scorched the nets for 25 points in efficient 8-fot-12 shooting to go along with two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. He follows teammates Kobe Paras and Jun Manzo as State U players who shone bright for State U in their first and second games, respectively.
Paras and Manzo were still impactful in this one, though, as the former finished with 16 points, two rebounds, and two steals and the latter ended with 13 markers and eight assists.
Bright Akhuetie and Will Gozum then dominated the interior by merging for 25 points and six rebounds.
UP was already in complete command in the first half before dropping a 32-point third quarter to blow the game wide open.
Their next assignment in the regional tournament is National Taiwan Normal University on Friday.
