Joem Sabandal will not be able to build upon his UAAP Seniors debut just yet.
Adamson University's blue-chip recruit has been forced to sit out the rest of the first round of the UAAP 82 Men's Basketball Tournament after fracturing his left hand.
Sabandal incurred the injury in the Soaring Falcons' training session last Friday and just a day later, had to have his left hand put in a cast.
The 5-foot-11 guard made his debut for San Marcelino's Srs. squad last Wednesday, contributing two rebounds in four and a half minutes of play as they bowed to defending champion Ateneo de Manila University.
Unfortunately, the soonest he will be able to take the floor once more will be in early October.
Still, the fact of the matter is Sabandal is coming off a stellar season for the Baby Falcons where he averaged 14.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 steals.
And when he finally gets back to full strength, he only promises to be ready and raring to contribute for Adamson. "I'll do my best na by second round, makaka-bounce back ako. I'll trust his plans lang," he said.
He then continued, "I'll be ready se second round to help Adamson na makabawi from last year's painful loss sa Final Four."
