One of the first games Ricci Rivero and Brent Paraiso played for their respective new teams was up against one another.

Then in the 2018 Milcu Got Skills Elite Showcase, Rivero led the University of the Philippines to a 73-69 triumph over Paraiso and University of Sto. Tomas.

On Saturday at Araneta Coliseum, the former teammates in De La Salle University finally faced off in the UAAP.

And there, Paraiso turned the tables on his good friend, helping the Growling Tigers send a statement with a big-time takedown of Fighting Maroons.

Of course, Paraiso, ever the defensive specialist, was the primary defender on Rivero. "I've been playing with him since grade school so basically alam ko na kung paano siya maglaro. Na-match up lang kami today so laban muna," the former said.

UST's transferee was a big part in limiting UP's transferee to four points in 1-of-10 shooting to go along with six turnovers.

Even so, Rivero said he is nothing but glad for his good friend. "I'm really happy for Brent. I'm really happy we got to play together again," he said.
