It took them a while but the Growling Tigers are back as actual Final Four contenders.
However, UST recruit Soulemane Chabi Yo is not satisfied with just being Final Four contenders, guy wants that championship.
The Growling Tigers’ big win over the UP Fighting Maroons for a strong 2-0 start in UAAP Season 82 men’s basketballl certainly establishes UST as a contender and it will fuel the team’s prospective run to the playoffs.
“2-0 will give us a big motivation. We are here to compete, we are looking for the championship,” Chabi Yo said.
“We are not competing in the league just to be in the Final Four, we always want the highest, the championship, so we’ll fight for that,” he added.
Chabi Yo is not being overconfident with his team’s 2-0 start though, he’s just stating that the Growling Tigers’ end goal is to win a title, as is the same with other UAAP teams.
However, just because their team is relatively young, it doesn’t mean they’ll wait for their turn at a title. UST is going after that championship this year.
“If we reach that [championship], it’s okay, we gave our best,” Chabi Yo said.
“But if we can’t achieve, it’s okay also. We have to work hard and come bac [next year],” he added.
