For Blue Eagle Isaac Go, His Parents are the Real MVPs
Isaac Go is clutch, but it’s his parents who taught him to always shoot his shot.

It was all a dream.

Ateneo Blue Eagle Isaac Go started playing basketball in grade school. Back then, he was usually seated on the bench and not getting a lot of minutes. There were times Isaac thought of quitting; but instead, he kept on. Go caught his first big break after the RP Youth team invited him for a tryout at the age of 16, when he was still studying in Xavier. This was the moment when Isaac thought that he may have a shot at basketball. And when the Ateneo Blue Eagles got him on the roster for the UAAP, his hoop dream began to unfold.

Today, Isaac Go is a two-time UAAP Champion. And in 2019 alone, he became an MVP—twice. The first one this year was back in January, when Go was crowned MVP after leading the Ateneo Blue Eagles against the San Beda Red Lions to win the PCCL Championship. The second one was last June, after he took Cignal-Ateneo to the top of the PBA D-League. Now that Isaac is in his last year in the UAAP, he’s on a mission to bring the Ateneo Blue Eagles the championship for the third straight year in UAAP Season 82.

But if you ask Isaac Go what he thinks of his MVP honors, he’ll point you to someone else—his parents. Watch the feature below on the real MVPs in the life of Isaac Go.

It was Isaac Go’s parents who helped him realize his dreams. It was them who encouraged Isaac to pursue basketball and chemistry (because they noticed how much he loves science). They allowed him to thrive as a student and as an athlete. “As parents, we have the responsibility to nurture the talents of our children. But at the same time, we should give them the opportunity to decide on their own. He may be our boy, but he’s definitely his own person,” said Isaac Go’s parents.

Now that Isaac is about to embark on the next stage of his life, all his parents want is for him to be happy and to feel fulfilled with his career choice—no matter what it is. All they want is for Isaac to find the job that he loves. And because of that, they are the real MVPs for Isaac Go.
