Rey Suerte has been balling out in his first two games for University of the East.
The one-and-done swingman from University of Visayas made quite the first impression with 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Four days later, he then turned in an encore performance of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Both games, though, ended up as losses for the Red Warriors.
And because of that, Suerte is well aware he still has much adjustment to do. "It's very tough. Yung mga teams dito, sobrang competitive so kailangan talaga mag-adjust, adjust, adjust," he told reporters.
Make no mistake, though, the three-time champion and two-time MVP in the CESAFI is, at the same time, nothing but confident that all of UE will make noise sooner than later. As he put it, "Kakasimula pa lang naman. Pwedeng-pwede pang bumawi dahil may 12 games pa."
For a start, Suerte vowed to be more in control the next time he takes the court. "Siguro, kailangan kong ayusin yung sobrang gigil masyado. First to second quarter, masyado akong gigil, pero we're still adjusting naman," he said.
