Jerrick Ahanmisi finally went online in the UAAP 82 Men's Basketball Tournament, shooting Adamson University over luckless University of the East, 91-80, Wednesday at Araneta Coliseum.
After two straight off-games, Ahanmisi waxed hot from start to finish, scattering 28 points built on seven triples as the Soaring Falcons swooped into back-to-back wins following a season-opening loss.
It also didn't hurt the San Marcelino-based squad that Alex Diakhite, the Red Warriors' Senegalese double-double machine, was out due to illness.
Without anybody to deny then entry into the paint, Jerom Lastimosa and Valandre Chauca sliced and diced their way inside and the former finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, and six assists and the latter ended with 13 markers, four dimes, and two boards.
Cameroonian Lenda Douanga also had his way with an 11-point, 16-rebound double-double.
Those four also got together in the endgame as Adamson needed to quell a late rally by UE that came as close as 75-82 inside the last three minutes.
Sans Diakhite, Rey Suerte fronted the effort for the Red Warriors, still winless in three games, with 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
