Xyrus Torres was on target inside the MOA Arena, Saturday.

And behind his career-high 21 points built on five triples, Far Eastern University charged back into the win column of the UAAP 82 Men's Basketball Tournament.

In the eyes of the rookie sharpshooter, though, he was just finishing whatever it was his point guards started. "'Di ko rin makukuha yung game ko ngayon kung hindi dahil sa teammates ko at kay God. Yun nga, sinasabi lang naman lagi nina coach, gawin ko lang yung role ko kasi andyan naman yung mga point guard namin at alam nila kung nasaan ako," he said.

Torres's role? Stretch the defense as the Tamaraws' knockdown shooter.

He did just that in this one, with 5-of-6 of his field goals coming from deep.

And all of that came from an assist by guards L-Jay Gonzales, Wendell Comboy, and Alec Stockton - as well as versatile big man Barkley Ebona.

With all of them making plays, the 6-foot swingman just had to worry about knocking down his shots. "Ginagawa ko lang yung best ko at ginagawa ko lang yung role ko. Yun lang," he said.

Still, Torres also knows full well he has much room for improvement. As he put it, "Siguro, kailangan ko pang maging lalong vocal. Tapos i-improve pa shooting at dribbling ko."
