Surprisingly, Ange Kouame is the leading scorer for Ateneo de Manila University at the end of the first round in the UAAP 82 Men's Basketball Tournament.
Averaging 14 points per game, last season's Rookie of the Year is one of only two Blue Eagles to norm double-digits in scoring.
Not only that, Kouame is also posting 13.1 rebounds, 4.9 blocks, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 assists per game.
Even more impressive, there have been more than a few games wherein the Ivorian student-athlete flirted with a triple-double - with him winding up with double-digits in scoring and rebounding and only needing two to three blocks for the feat.
Kouame has come closest in the Blue Eagles' triumph over Katipunan rival the University of the Philippines, Sunday at Araneta Coliseum, pounding in 19 points, 15 rebounds, and seven blocks.
And he only hopes to surpass that moving forward. "That's my goal this year - one triple-double," he said.
He then continued, "It's really hard, but I wanna make it. That's one of my goals this year."
So watch out, UAAP - a 6-foot-10 tower is out to tally a triple-double.
