UAAP: Pwede naman… if given the chance – Jho Maraguinot
They say, I am [eligible]. Pero we haven't checked, ako I haven't checked. Pero sinasabi nila na eligible ako -- Jho Maraguinot

Jho Maraguinot is open to a possible one final dance with the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles.

The veteran spiker told reporters on Sunday that she’s not closing her doors to return for UAAP Season 82 if all things fall into place.

“For me? Yeah, why not naman?” said Maraguinot when asked if she’s interested to play once again for the Lady Eales.

Maraguinot last saw action for Ateneo a year ago – her fourth. The Batanguena spiker still has a year of playing eligibility left if she enrolls for a masteral degree.

At 23 years-old, her age falls two years below the maximum eligibility age of 25.

“They say, I am [eligible]. Pero we haven't checked, ako I haven't checked. Pero sinasabi nila na eligible ako,” said Maraguinot, whose sister Jaja Maraguinot is on her sophomore year as a setter for the Lady Eagles.

A source privy to the details told reporters that Maraguinot is already applying for a Masters degree course. The source also added that aside from Maraguinot other former Lady Eagles Jia Morado, Jamie Lavitoria, Marge Tejada, Ana Gopico and Ria Lo are all still eligible to return if they choose to do so.

Maraguinot herself said the she’s really interested to play with a new generation of Lady Eagles after playing alongside other Ateneo greats in Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Denden Lazaro, Bea De Leon, Kat Tolentino and Maddie Madayag.

“I think, 'yung level ng volleyball ngayon, especially sa UAAP, it's different na, it's exciting. Kumbaga, for me, it's another generation e,” she said. “'Yun nga, mas bata sila, feeling ko mas enthusiastic sila maglaro and mas excited talaga sila. So, masaya naman.”

And playing alongside her sister, top rookie Faith Nisperos and other young bloods in Vanie Gandler and Erika Raagas is a great prospect.

“Pwede naman, if given the chance,” said Maraguinot.

Maraguinot also acknowledged that her possible return has been circulating on social media. But she cleared that she’s just doing weights training in Ateneo, but not training with them.

“Ewan ko, siguro nakikita lang nila na kasi I do my weights sa Ateneo, minsan kasi talaga, nakakasabay ko sila,” she said. [But] I don't train with them.”
