University of Sto. Tomas head coach Aldin Ayo turned 42-years-young last Tuesday.
Of course, he celebrated it with his family who flew in from Sorsogon to be with him.
A day later, coach Aldin was still celebrating his birthday with his family as well as his adopted family - the Growling Tigers.
Ayo and the black and gold came out on top of fellow playoff hopeful the University of the Philippines on Wednesday and thus, the former completed an elimination round sweep of the latter. "I'm just happy that we got this one cause this is a very important game," he said.
Along with the big win, the one-time NCAA and one-time UAAP champion coach said his family's presence made his latest birthday all the more special. "It's special because mga malalaki na yun e so alam na nila yung pakiramdam ng nananalo," he shared.
He then continued, "Yung mga yun, sa Sorsogon pumapasok, but they always tell me, 'Daddy, I'm proud of you.'"
Indeed, having his two children, 10-year-old Migs and 8-year-old Chelsea, here with him in the stretch run of the season is just what coach Aldin needs at this time. "Sa akin, it eases the pressure, the homesickness, basta makakalaro yung mga bata, it becomes balanced. You work hard tapos pag-uwi mo, sasalubungin ka ng mga anak mo, nagkakaroon ka ng peace of mind," he said.
