Rhenz Abando, one of the big guns in University of Sto. Tomas' conquest of the University of the Philippines back in the first round, was not in action as the two teams met again in Round 2 of the UAAP 82 Men's Basketball Tournament.
Abando was at the MOA Arena on Wednesday, but was in street clothes and was sitting behind the Growling Tigers' bench.
The reason? UST head coach Aldin Ayo refused to disclose as they still found a way to win without one of their key cogs.
"Right now, I'm not gonna comment regarding that," he answered when asked about the development in his post-win interview.
This was the first game the first-year forward missed in the season where he has posted per game counts of 11.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.1 assists.
For his part, Abando also kept mum on his situation, declining interviews after the game before leaving the venue.
As per sources, though, the 6-foot-2 wing has not missed any practices and has always been present in team activities.
