UAAP 82: NU leads the way in Men's and Women's Taekwondo

Three-peat seeking National University became the only undefeated team in the UAAP Season 82 men's taekwondo tournament Thursday at the Blue Eagle Gym.

The Bulldogs dominated Far Eastern University, 7-0, and University of the East, 7-0 to extend their perfect run to four.

De La Salle and University of Santo Tomas are in joint second with 3-1 cards.

The Green Jins scored a 5-2 win over the Red Warriors and a 6-1 victory over University of the Philippines.

The Tiger Jins continued their rise from a season-opening loss with identical 7-0 romp of Ateneo and UE. UST's loss came from the hands of De La Salle.

After opening the season at 2-0, the Warriors lost two in a row in Day 2 to drop to fourth place.

The Fighting Maroons and the Blue Eagles are in joint fifth with 1-3 records while the Tamaraws are the lone winless team at 0-3.

In the women's tournament, reigning three-time champion National University and University of Santo Tomas continue to share the lead Thursday at the Blue Eagle Gym.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 4-0 following identical 6-1 victories over De La Salle and Far Eastern University.

The Lady Tiger Jins are not far behind with four consecutive victories, emerging triumphant over the Lady Tamaraws, 6-1, and University of the East, 7-0.

Running third is University of the Philippines with a 3-1 card. The Lady Maroons swept their Day 2 bouts after beating De La Salle and FEU via similar 5-2 scores.

De La Salle, which nipped Ateneo, 4-3, dropped out of the top three range with a 2-2 mark.

The Lady Tamaraws sport a 1-3 record, while the Lady Tamaraws and the Lady Warriors remain winless at 0-4.
