ANTIPOLO - Safe to say, Andrei Caracut did not turn in one of his best efforts in De La Salle University's must-win game against the University of the Philippines, Sunday at Ynares Center here.

With the Green Archers playing for their playoff lives, Caracut went scoreless, missing all three of his shots from the field while also turning the ball over five times in 19 minutes of play. He was a minus-21 in terms of plus-minus.

Afterward, the Taft-based team's captain could only look back at what could have been. "Wala e. Ganun talaga - may natatalo, may nananalo," he shared.

He then continued, "Hindi ko rin alam kung ano nangyari after ng game. Wala na naman kami sa Final Four. Sayang, sayang."

Asked about his scoreless showing, Caracut made it clear he still gave his all. "May sakit kasi ako since UE game then tuloy-tuloy hanggang ngayon. 'Di ko naman ginagawang excuse yun kasi binigay ko pa rin naman yung best ko kanina," he said.

He then continued, "Siguro, nandun din yung hina kaya hindi ako nakasabay sa game. Siguro yun nga, pero nabigay ko pa rin naman yung best ko."

Now he will close his collegiate career out of the playoff picture, the 6-1 guard can do nothing but draw from all his experiences - both the highs and the lows. "Hindi naging madali kasi pabago-bago ng coaches tapos paiba-iba yung players na nakakasama. Hindi naging madali, pero nag-enjoy naman ako," he said.

Caracut has had four different head coaches in his five-year collegiate career - Juno Sauler, Aldin Ayo, Louie Gonzalez, and Gian Nazario.

In his five years, he has won a championship, finished as runner-up, and then missed out on the playoffs the other three seasons.

He made it clear, however, that through all those, he only became better. "Lahat ng dumating na coaches, may natutunan ako. Sobrang dami kong natutunan sa (four) coaches at sa mga players na nakasama ko in five years," he said.
