Jamie Malonzo is done with his one-and-done season for De La Salle University.
The Filipino-American and the rest of the Green Archers may not have made it past the elimination round of the UAAP 82 Men’s Basketball, but there is no doubt he has made an impact.
Malonzo posted per game counts of 15.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 28.3 minutes of play through 13 games all while helping the Taft-based team stay in the hunt well late into the tournament.
Still, if he had his way, the 6-foot-7 wing said he would have wanted to keep donning the green and white. “I’m sad, honestly. I wish I had more time with the guys,” he said of his three months there.
He then continued, “I wish I had more time with the fans. I wish I had more games to play.”
Of course, if only La Salle had won one or two more games, it would have been alive and kicking up until now.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to be and so, Malonzo wraps up his one and only year with a 7-7 standing.
Nonetheless, he has no doubt he has made the most of his one-and-done season. As he put it, “For what we had, I think I maximized it.”
Now, the Portland State University alumnus sets his sights on the next level. “I guess I got to move forward, right? So going forward, I got a couple of requirements to do before I can enter the PBA Draft,” he shared.
He then continued, “I think there’s still more for me to show.”
