Javi Gomez de Liano was the first big fish Bo Perasol caught in his first year in the University of the Philippines.
A star for the Jr. Maroons, Javi GDL was a blue-chip recruit who committed to the Fighting Maroons' then-rebuilding program.
Fast forward to now and the 6-foot-5 wing may very well be Diliman's first homegrown talent in a long while to play out his collegiate career in maroon and green.
That, however, is yet to be determined. "I'm gonna take the next month to decide," he answered when asked what's next for him.
Javi GDL then furthered that, as of right now, he is weighing his options. "I'm still thinking if I'm gonna join the PBA Draft - that's an option. Another option is if I get a good offer in MPBL," he shared.
Of course, the option closest to his heart is playing out his fifth and final year for UP. As he put it, "Of course, I can also play my final year in UP - that will always be an option."
Whatever his decision will be, he will always cherish his time as a Maroon - most especially these past two seasons wherein he helped his school make history. "I'm really proud of my team. No one really know what we went through in the offseason and even in the season, but this has been the best years of my life," he said.
