University of Sto. Tomas has gone from the fourth-seed all the way to the Finals of the UAAP 82 Men's Basketball Tournament.
And without a doubt, all of the Growling Tigers' hard work has paid off. "We always look back to the time we're practicing five to eight hours a day. All the sacrifices we did, that was because our goal is to win the championship," Beninese ball of energy Soulemane Chabi Yo said.
He then continued, "Now, we're one step away so we have to give it all our best."
Indeed, Season MVP Chabi Yo and company have a golden opportunity to take home to Espana its first trophy since 2006.
To do so, however, UST will have to topple undefeated two-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila University - and in the tournament, the former is yet to win against the latter.
That winless record, however, only makes the Growling Tigers hungrier to upend the Blue Eagles.
In fact, Chabi Yo had one guarantee - that they will go all-out to ruin Ateneo's perfect season
Asked if they will exact revenge on the Blue Eagles in this championship round, he said, short but sweet, "Yes!"
Of course, the Growling Tigers also know full well that is easier said than done. "If we're to win against Ateneo, we have to be more disciplined than them and we have to trust the system," he said.
