Defending champion National University-Nazareth School and Ateneo high School stayed perfect after beating separate foes in the UAAP Season 82 Boys' Basketball Tournament at Paco Arena Saturday.

The Bullpups fended off the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs, 89-77, while the Blue Eaglets escaped De La Salle-Zobel Junior Archers, 81-78.

Kevin Quiambao was dominant for NU with 27 points, making all but one of his 13 attempts from the field, to go along with 10 rebounds and three blocks. Terrence Fortea added 19 points while Gerry Abadiano chipped in 15 markers, seven boards and three dimes.

"Ang dami pa namin kailangang ayusin, nagagawa naman namin ang plays namin pero hindi namin nagagawa in a consistent basis," said Bullpups coach Goldwin Monteverde as his squad moved to 2-0.

NU used a 21-11 second period to turn a 16-13 affair to a 37-24 lead at halftime.

The Bullpups, anchored by twin towers Carl Tamayo and Quiambao, showed their might in the paint, outscoring the Tiger Cubs, 58-36, while also outrebounding them, 58-43.

Rojan Montemayor paced the Tiger Cubs (1-1) with 24 points and seven rebounds while Jacob Cortez and Jan Salazar poured in 19 and 15 markers, respectively.

Forthsky Padrigao unloaded 21 points, six boards, and four steals to power Ateneo to a 2-0 win-loss card, while Josh Lazaro delivered 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Kean Baclaan's monster double-double of 32 points and 12 boards went for naught as the Junior Green Archers slipped to 1-1.

Far Eastern University-Diliman picked up its first win at the expense of winless University of the East, 74-45.

The Baby Tamaraws held the Junior Warriors to single digits in each of the first three quarters, outscoring them 55-23.

Aeron Bagunu had 10 points and 14 rebounds while Anfernee Estacio got 13 markers for FEU.

Adamson concluded the quadruple-header with a 95-71 shellacking of University of the Philippines Integrated School.
