National University mowed down University of Sto. Tomas and marched forward towards yet another marker in history courtesy of a definitive 66-54 decision in Game 2 of the Finals, Saturday at MOA Arena.

The Lady Bulldogs blasted off to a blazing 25-8 beginning and never looked back en route to yet another perfect season in the UAAP 82 Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Five different players contributed in that opening salvo with Finals MVP Monique Del Carmen leading the pack, dropping seven of her 15 points there.

Kaye Pingol and Rhena Itesi chimed in six points apiece in the same timeframe to make sure National U overcame the absence of pillar Jack Danielle Animam once more.

That was a far cry from Game 1 last Wednesday where they found themselves in a tight tiff all throughout.

This time around, the Lady Bulldogs imposed their will from start to finish and had no problems whatsoever scoring their sixth straight season sweep and 96th win in a row dating back to 2014.

In the end, Pingol had 15 points, four assists, two rebounds, and two steals to her name while Itesi had 12 markers and eight boards.

Of course, the now-six-peat champions dedicated their newest trophy to Animam who remains in New Zealand as a precaution following the face injury she suffered in her tour of duty for Gilas Pilipinas Women.

For the Tigresses, Reynalyn Ferrer topped the scoring column with 16 points while Season MVP Grace Irebu posted an 11-marker, 10-board double-double.

Despite having to settle for a runner-up finish, this is still the black and gold's best finish in over a decade.
