Kai Sotto is one of the top young talent from all over the world to have been invited to the 2020 Basketball without Borders (BWB) Global Camp.
And in that annual training camp scheduled for February 15 to 17 (Philippine time), the former UAAP Jrs. MVP was supposedly set to re-unite with Ateno de Manila High School running mate Forthsky Padrigao.
Only, Padrigao wouldn't be able to make it to Chicago as he and the Blue Eaglets are in the middle of their playoff run in the UAAP 82 Boys Basketball Tournament.
In fact, the primetime playmaker will be, as always, showing the way on Wednesday when they meet Adamson High School in a knockout bout for the right to move on up to the next rung of the stepladder playoffs.
Of course, Padrigao was ruing the missed opportunity, but nonetheless, re-affirmed his decision to give his full focus to the blue and white. "For me, sayang yung opportunity kasi bihira lang for the guys at my age to have this kind of opportunity, but in life, we need to make sacrifices. Right now, I need to prioritize muna yung Ateneo and sacrifice my stint in the BWB," he said.
Even more, the 5-foot-11, 17-year-old has no doubt that there will be many, many more chances for him and his 7-foot-2, 17-year-old best friend to join forces once more. As he put it, "Siguro, magkakasama pa rin naman kami ni Kai. You'll never know kasi bata pa naman kami and we'll still have a lot of opportunities in life."
