For the Season 82 volleyball tournaments, the UAAP is finally implementing the use of video challenge.
The league will use the Philippine Superliga's challenge system, which was also utilized during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games hosted by the Philippines.
It's a welcome development for the UAAP, considering that the challenge system is a staple in international play.
"Sabi ko nga, it's about time for us to have a challenge system," head coach Oliver Almadro of defending women's champion Ateneo said.
"All of the big leagues have that challenge system. Though I guess hindi siya talaga yung thorough na challenge system but we're really happy as coaches," he added.
The challenge system could prove crucial in an uber-competitive UAAP season and coaches are simply hoping for the best.
It's the first time in 82 years that the UAAP is implementing the rule after all.
"Hopefully mag-materialize yun," FEU head coach George Pascua said.
"Malaking factor yun a pwedeng mag-bago judgment calls ng referee. For me personally, experience ko sa club team, maganda naman," he added.
