Making it back to the Finals is top priority for the Blue Eagles in UAAP Season 82.
Last year, Ateneo was clearly in transition.
Which was fair really, it was the first year the Blue Eagles were without Marck Espejo, the program's greatest player ever.
This year, Ateneo is in transition no more as the Blue Eagles have moved on from their G.O.A.T.
"I think we're just excited to show how much we've grown stronger as a team. Especially since last year, it wasn't as much of a rebuild, but 'yun 'yung year na umalis sila Marck, mga powerhouse players talaga namin," Chu Njigha told ABS-CBN Sports.
"I think we moved on na. Kahit sinong team naman mawawalan ng player every year so it's a matter of focusing kung sino yung nandiyan," he added.
Despite going through life without Espejo and even head coach Oliver Almadro, the Blue Eagles went to the Final Four last year as a no. 3 seed.
Naturally, this current group is raring to prove that they can also win on their own. Making it back to the Finals is top priority for the Ateneo.
"Ngayon yung cheer namin before games or during huddles is "for the Finals,'" Njigha said.
"Yes, we're gonna be gunning for that championship. But of course, we're gonna take each game as baby steps," he added.
