Forthsky Padrigao was invited to the 2020 Basketball without Borders Global Camp running from February 14 to 16.
The primetime playmaker sacrificed his spot in the annual gathering of the top young talent from all over the world so he could lead Ateneo de Manila High School in its do-or-die game against Adamson High School.
Only, Padrigao and crew came up short on Wednesday.
With the Blue Eaglets’ campaign coming to a close, his calendar has just opened up quite a bit.
Still, he has no regrets about making such sacrifice. “Definitely, no regrets kasi ‘di porket ni-sacrifice ko ‘tong isang bagay, magiging successful na ako rito sa isa,” he said.
He then continued, “In life, we take risks and sa risks na yun, if we succeed, then good. If we don’t, then we learn from that.”
Indeed, the 5-foot-11 court general has, without a doubt, learned a lot from his first season as the blue and white’s main man. “Yung chemistry ko with (Lebron Lopez and Josh Lazaro), medyo surface level pa lang, pero siguro, throughout the summer, mas magiging maayos chemistry namin,” he said.
And with that, Padrigao says he and Ateneo will be back for more for his last go-round in high school. As he put it, “Definitely, gutom na gutom kami. But let’s see what awaits us.”
