For the first time in four years, Ateneo de Manila High School will not be playing in the Finals in the UAAP 82 Boys Basketball Tournament.
The third-seeded Blue Eaglets' campaign came to a close at the hands of fourth-seeded Adamson High School as the two teams met in the first rung of the stepladder playoffs a week ago.
Rather than rue their missed opportunity and stopped streak, however, the kids from Katipunan have instead wasted no time turning their attention from the court to the classroom.
Ateneo's young guns are now shooting for high scores in their classes - especially as the UAAP season had forced them to miss several classes.
With that, Josh Lazaro, Lebron Lopez, Forthsky Padrigao and the rest of the Blue Eaglets have been told to give their full focus to their academics - so much so that for the next two weeks, they have been locked out of the gym. "I personally banned them from Moro (Lorenzo Gym) for the next two weeks. Kailangan nilang bumawi sa absences and missed tests," head coach Reggie Varilla said.
And so, for now, don't expect any action on the court for the blue and white - all the action they're gonna get will be inside the classroom.
