De La Salle University had an explosive debut in UAAP Season 82 Saturday at the MOA Arena, smacking defending champion Ateneo in four sets.
The Lady Spikers' offense was overwhelming, firing 53 attacks, 20 more than the Lady Eagles.
The only downside in La Salle's dominant win were the errors, and the Lady Spikers had a lot of them.
In Ateneo's 74 total points, 33 came from La Salle's errors.
Lady Spikers head coach Ramil De Jesus is not putting too much into their error-filled debut though, which came in a rivalry game no less.
"Pag first game di mo maiiwasan, lalo na pag mga bata. Sa training, okay. Very consistent," coach RDJ said.
"Pagdating sa game, nandiyan na yung halong kaba tapos first time sa ganito kalaking crowd and ganito kalaking court. Hindi maalis yun kahit sabihin mong okay, kalma lang," he added.
More than the errors, De Jesus is looking at how the Lady Spikers responded after despite giving up so many points.
La Salle certainly proved its maturity despite a younger lineup, recoving from a second-set collapse to cruise to victory, culminating with a dominant set 4 finale.
"Kahit pilitn nung bata na gawin ng tama, wala naman may gusto ng mali, talaga lalabas yun eh [nerves and errors]," De Jesus said.
"Mas maganda yung naka-gawa ng mali, at the same time, nandoon pa rin [to bounce back]. Hindi yung naka-gawa ng mali pero di na maka-balik. Yun maganda sa team namin, na-test kami na ganun karaming error pero naka-survive," he added.
