Action in the UAAP Season 82 is suspended until March 17 due to the outbreak of the novel corona virus (COVID-19).
The UAAP Board has decided to extend the suspension of all Season 82 events until next week.
“In an emergency meeting, the UAAP Board of Managing Directors unanimously decided to extend the suspension of all UAAP events until Tuesday, March 17, 2020, to give everyone concerned enough time to adjust to the current situation,” according to the UAAP statement as of 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Another UAAP Board announcement is set on Monday, March 16, on how the rest of the season will proceed.
The UAAP initially released an announcement early Tuesday to halt UAAP events until March 14, Saturday.
Monday evening, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte declared a State of Public Health Emergency because of the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country.
It is the second time that the UAAP is suspending its second semester events following the postponement made last February 15. The games resumed March 3.
