Apparently, the greatness of Adamson University's softball squad extends far outside the diamond.
Still staying in San Marcelino as Metro Manila continues to be enhanced community quarantine, the Lady Falcons chose to use all the time they had to pack goods which will be distributed to their neighbors.
Over the weekend, Adamson, which had ruled over UAAP softball for nearly a decade now, went hands on in showing support to the Charity Over Virus Indifference and Despair and Facemasks Cover Your Face Not Your Hearts programs of the Vicentian priests.
"Sa part namin, kahit small things na pwedeng makatulong sa mga pamilya rito na nangagailangan lalo na sa panahong ito na kailangan natin ang isa't-isa, gagawin namin," legendary coach Ana Santiago said. "We are very happy to be part ng program na ito at patuloy naming gagawin ito sa abot ng makakaya namin."
Before UAAP 82 was indefinitely suspended, the Lady Falcons were nothing but determined to defend their title for the 10th year in a row.
Due to COVID-19, however, not only was their title defense put on pause, they were also confined to their dormitories.
And so, Adamson decided to bat for collective action in the face of crisis. As Coach Ana put it, "May mga players kaming hindi nakauwi sa kanilang probinsya kasi nagmahal yung pamasahe at yung iba naman, inabot na ng quarantine. Kaya gagamitin na lang namin yung time na 'to para makatulong at magdasal para sa bayan."
