Forthsky and Kai are not closing the door on a reunion sometime soon
Forthsky Padrigao was not blown away by the news that Kai Sotto will be the first full-blooded Filipino to play in the NBA G League.
After all, Padrigao has seen just that happening for his best friend from the very beginning. "I'm not surprised kasi kahit papaano, we still find time to talk. Dati pa naman niyang pangarap mag-NBA," he said.
The two had been teammates in Ateneo de Manila High School as well as Batang Gilas before Sotto took his talent to the US.
Not only that, their partnership was just as potent off-court as it was on it.
And that is exactly why the Blue Eaglets' lead guard could only express pride at how far Sotto has come. "Siyempre, I'm very proud kasi he's getting closer to his goal. Siyempre, nakakatuwang makakita ng isang kaibigan, isang Filipino na unti-unting naaabot ang kanyang pangarap," he said.
For the 7-foot-2, 18-year-old's new teammates, Padrigao had but one piece of advice - a big-time bond off the court will only translate on it. "Dapat magsimula sila off the court kasi kapag matibay yung samahan nila, wala na silang aalalahanin pagdating sa loob ng court. 'Di rin naman basta-bastang mga player ang magiging kakampi ni Kai, magagaling din sila sobra," he said.
And as for their partnership?

Turning serious, though, Padrigao said anything and everything is possible for him and his best friend. As he put it, "Let's see what the future awaits."
He then continued, "We talk about it too, pero we will keep it to ourselves muna."
