Denden Lazaro-Revilla is a gem of a libero for Ateneo de Manila University.

A vital cog for the Lady Eagles during her UAAP stint, Lazaro-Revilla helped Ateneo win back-to-back titles in UAAP Seasons 76 and 77 including a rare tournament sweep in 2015.

Now looking at the current crop of Ateneo liberos, the multi-awarded defense specialist believes that the Lady Eagles are in good hands especially with a potential new jewel in Roma Mae Doromal.

Asked in an interview on the Crossover podcast on Tuesday night who among the current liberos in the UAAP closely resemble her style of play, Lazaro-Revilla pointed at the Ateneo young blood.

The two-time Best Receiver (Season 76, 77) and Season 76 Best Digger even went far by saying that the Nazareth School of National University recruit plays better than her compared to when she started manning the floor for the Lady Eagles.

“I think I’d have to say its Roma Doromal from Ateneo,” said the ChocoMucho star. “Although she was a libero na in high school so she’s a lot better than me when I started in college as a libero.”

The Iron Eagle added that she sees a lot of semblance in her style of play with Doromal.

“Like how she plays, paano siya gumalaw parang I see myself in her but she’s a lot better nga,” said the former national team member.

Lazaro-Revilla also mentioned NU Lady Bulldogs sophomore Jennifer Nierva, also a product of NU-Nazareth School, as another libero whose style is similar as hers.

Learning about the praises about her from arguably the best libero to ever play for Ateneo, Doromal posted her reaction on her Twitter account.
