Thirdy Ravena now has a new nickname as he takes his talents to Japan.
"Tawag ko sa kanya dati, Finals-Man kasi iba nilalaro niya pag championship namin sa UAAP," Mike Nieto said a day after it became official that Ravena will be suiting up for San-En NeoPhoenix in Japan's B.League. "Pero ngayon, ang itatawag ko na sa kanya, Japan-Man."
More than that, though, "Big Mike" said he is nothing but proud of his lifelong teammate. "He deserves it and he's bound to achieve greater things because of his work ethic," he said.
Twin Matt only shared the same sentiment. "I'm just proud of him. Tinuloy lang niya yung sinasabi na niya since before," he said.
Ravena and the Nieto twins have been donning the blue and white since they were in grade school and have been teammates even from tournaments such as Small Basketeers Philippines (SBP).
They then went on to make Ateneo de Manila University proud first as Blue Eaglets and then as Blue Eagles.
And even after their time in blue and white is over and done with, the three will still have full faith in one another. "I'm sure he will adjust quickly there. Whatever happens, 100 percent lagi ang suporta ko kay Thirds," Matt said.
Indeed, wherever Ravena will be, he knows full well he has his lifelong teammates behind him. "Alam ni T-Ravs kung gaano ko siya kamahal. Kapatid ko yan, teammate ko yan since grade school so I will always be here to support him," Mike said.
