RR Pogoy almost quit FEU to go home to Cebu

— RR Pogoy.
FEU is one of those programs that have mastered the art of exploring the provinces in search of talent.
In Cebu, the Tamaraws found a gem in RR Pogoy, who would go on to be a UAAP champion and Gilas Pilipinas mainstay.
However, despite being a regional star, Pogoy himself had doubts on whether or not he can make it in the big city.
Pogoy shared his story on 2OT with PBA broadcasters Carlo Pamintuan and Magoo Marjon.
Tiis tsaka sipag lang talaga," he added.
During Pogoy's earlier years with FEU, he was part of Tamaraws teams that featured RR Garcia and Terrence Romeo who both won the UAAP MVP award.
When the two guards left for the PBA at the same time, Pogoy's batch was promptly unleashed, making the Season 77 Finals, but losing to the NU Bulldogs with Pogoy's future TNT and Gilas teammate, Troy Rosario.
By his fifth year, Pogoy, together with Mac Belo and Mike Tolomia, finally won the UAAP title, beating UST in three games in the Season 76 Finals.
Pogoy hit the booming three late in Game 3 for the separation the Tamaraws needed to clinch the school's 20th championship.
That wouldn't have been possible if Pogoy went ahead with his earlier plan to quit FEU altogether.
