Ateneo de Manila University libero Dani Ravena stands with ABS-CBN following Congress’ decision to deny the station’s bid for a franchise renewal.
The Lady Eagle, who helped Ateneo capture the UAAP Season 81 crown, posted on her Twitter account her support to the Kapamilya channel which airs volleyball games of the UAAP, NCAA and the Premier Volleyball League through ABS-CBN S+A.
Grew up watching my idols play. Can’t even believe I’m playing the sport that I love infront of thousands of people. What once was just a dream is now my reality because of ABS CBN Sports. WE OWE SO MUCH TO EVERYONE BEHIND THIS COMPANY. Athlete man o hindi. https://t.co/5ad6YRzd35— Dani Ravena (@ravenadani) July 12, 2020
Ravena joined other volleyball stars who showed solidarity for the embattled broadcasting giant.
Former Ateneo stars Gretchen Ho, who is also a TV host and reporter for ABS-CBN, Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Dzi Gervacio and Jem Ferrer as well as Eya Laure, Mela Tunay and Ayel Estranero among others.
ABS-CBN was put off the air after its franchise expired.
Last Friday, the House Committee on Legislative Franchises voted 70 in favor against 11 not in favor of denying its franchise renewal.
