Sneakers have become a huge trend as of late, and truth be told, it has already become a big part of today’s culture.
Sneakerheads have started popping up left and right, trying to “cop” the latest “drops” to add their extensive collection, and are willing to spare no expense in getting their new favorite pair of “kicks”.
In the world of sports, it’s most often basketball players that are the biggest sneakerheads, given the fact that a lot of most expensive and exclusive sneakers are actually the signature shoe designs of legendary hoop stars such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Penny Hardaway.
You rarely expect combat-sports stars to be sneakerheads, but UFC lightweight fighter Danny “Last Call” Castillo has made himself the exception.
If you’ve gotten the chance to see Castillo during his weigh-ins, the Team Alpha Male member has made sure that when stepping onto the scale, his shoe-game is on point. In his past weigh-ins, Castillo has been seen rocking Nike Foamposite Pros, “Wolf Grey” Air Jordan 11’s and “Year of the Rabbit” Air Jordan 7’s just to name a few.
In an interview with BJPenn.com, Castillo declared himself as the biggest sneakerhead in the UFC, and admitted to having around 160 pairs of shoes with brands ranging from Nike to Reebok, and Adidas.
Castillo also shared his sneaker-buying habits, saying that he would by two pairs of the same retro sneakers, one to wear and one to keep.
It’s safe to say that for a fighter/sneakerhead like “Last Call” Castillo, there are two different meanings to the word “kicks”.
