Gervacio goes down with knee injury

Foton's Angeline "Dzi" Gervacio suffered a left knee injury during the Tornadoes' five-set loss to in the 2015 Philippine SuperLiga All Filipino Conference on Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome. 

The former Ateneo Lady Eagle fell down awkardly in the second set and stayed on the floor for several minutes before being carried out of the court on stretcher. Gervacio later informed medics that she heard a pop in her knee upon landing.
It was later confirmed based on MRI results Saturday that she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and a displaced patella. She is set to undergo a thorough checkup on Tuesday.
Former Ateneo teammate Fille Cainglet-Cayetano, who was set to play for Petron in the second game, rushed to Gervacio's side before she was brought to Makati Medical Center.
Current and former teammates tweeted messages of support to Gervacio after the incident.

Foton was leading the second frame, 15-11, when the incident happened. She had three points. 

Gervacio was brought to Makati Med by the league's medical staff. 

It was the law student's third game for the squad handled by Vilet Ponce De Leon after skipping the first game. 

Foton dropped their game against Philips Gold, 18-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-15, 13-15, but remained on second spot with a 2-3 slate behind undefeated Petron Blaze Spikers (5-0).  

Knee injuries has been prevalent this year among women's volleyball players after University of the Philippines' Katherine Bersola went down with a left knee ACL midway in the UAAP joust. 

De La Salle star Ara Galang suffered the same fate with a left ACL, MCL, medial meniscus tear and big bone bruise while teammate Camille Cruz also had a right ACL tear during the UAAP finals against back-to-back champion Ateneo.
