(From left) Bea Tan, Lindsay Dowd, Alexa Micek and Charo Soriano will banner the local squads competing in an invitational beach volleyball tournament at the Sands SM by the Bay.
Power, skill and beauty will invade the sand court this month with the staging of the “Fit to Hit” Philippine Beach Volleyball Invitational.
Eight teams coming from four countries will vie for pride and honor starting Sept. 25 to 27 at the Sands SM by the Bay.
Three teams from the Philippines will compete against two teams each from Hong Kong and Malaysia and one from New Zealand in the tournament where a total cash prize $19,000 will be given away.
Pinay stunners Bea Tan, Lindsey Dowd, Alexa Micek and Charo Soriano will represent the host squads.
Tan will team up with Down while Micek will work with Soriano. The other Filipina pair has yet to be named.
The Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc. has no participation in the tournament, according to LVPI president Jose Romasanta.
Matches will start at 2:00 p.m.
Eight teams will be divided into two groups. A single-round robin will lead to the semis and finals and rankings matches.
“We’ve been working hard. It’s going to be tough but we will try our best and hope to win games,” said Tan, formerly of the Ateneo Blue Eagles squad.
Dowd will debut in the local scene while Micek, also from California will try her luck in her second beach volleyball stint after falling short in her campaign in the Philippine Superliga a month ago.
