Dindin Santiago-Manabat is entering a new chapter in her life -- motherhood.
With teams in the Philippine Superliga set to submit their Protect 10 list next year, Dindin Santiago-Manabat is sure to be out of the Blaze Spikers’ roster.
The towering 6-foot-2 middle blocker revealed to her teammates that she is entering a new chapter in her life -- motherhood.
Santiago-Manabat is already three weeks pregnant and will take a leave of absence when the PSL opens its Invitational Cup in February next year.
Head coach George Pascua was the one who hinted to select reporters of a “blessing” coming to the team moments after the two-time champion Blaze Spikers were dethroned by the Foton Tornadoes last Saturday in the PSL Grand Prix.
“May isang good news for her at may isang bad news (na mawawala siya) though hindi naman talaga siya bad news. Basta may best gift kami na na-achieve ng isang player namin,” said Pascua, who wanted Santiago-Manabat herself confirm the news, four days ago.
With the 23-year-old former National University star out Pascua is looking at Frances Molina to fill in the void and is hoping to tap former San Beda player Janine Marciano.
Petron will also have to find replacements for Maica Morada and libero Jen Reyes as Meralco reportedly plans to recall its employees playing in other teams. Even Abigail Marano is still uncertain of a return stint for the Blaze Spikers.
PSL teams have to submit the 10 players in their Protect List until January 15 and those who will miss the cut will be free agents.
