Favorites advance to Final Four of BVR finals
Three undefeated teams, including tandem of Bea Tan and Fiola Ceballos, advanced to the Final Four of the BVR on tour national finals.

Upsets are not really a thing yet in the Beach Volleyball Republic.

The Final Four cast of the BVR on Tour national finals has been set at the conclusion of day 2 of the three-day joust at the sand courts in Mall of Asia Friday and almost all of the top seeds advanced.

Three out of four actually.

The resident BVR power couple of Charo Soriano and Alexa Micek continued their perfect run so far, beating Erjane Magdato and Alexa Polidario of Team Bacolod, 21-19, 21-16, to get into the semifinals once again.

Joining the four-time leg champions with an undefeated streak is the pair of Bea Tan and Fiola Ceballos.

In the last quarterfinal game of the day, the Negros Occidental leg champions outlasted Mae Demontano and Jackie Estoquia of Team Ilo-ilo in three sets, 21-12, 15-21, 15-9.

The third top seed to advance was the veteran pair of Coyah Abanto and Judy Caballejo.

Team Air Force barely avoided the upset axe after surviving Lourdilyn Catubag and Karen Quilario of University of Mindanao, 14-21, 21-11, 15-11.

Apple Saraum and Jusabelle Brilli of Team Cebu were the only top seed to be ousted early as Jennifer Cosas and Floremel Rodriguez of Team Negros scored a sensational 21-15, 21-13, sweep.

Aside from the honor of being the first BVR on tour national champion, major prizes await the top four teams as the tournament wraps up tomorrow.

The champion will get P100,000 while the second place will settle for P70,000.

The third place finisher will receive a cool P50,000 while P20,000 is the consolation for the fourth place.

Action resumes tomorrow with the semifinals and finals starting at 8 in the morning.

The BVR on tour national finals will be LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports + Action channel 23 and ABS-CBN Sports + Action HD channel 166 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
